Sho Bu Do Bu Jitsu Ju Jitsu

Pictures

This page just serves to highlight some of the miscellaneous techniques taught as part of the curriculum and seen in demos or during seminars. Just to give a taste of what we're all about and let you see some things outside of the basic principles.

Kay Goluska throw

A short and sweet application of 7th principle (throws), this can be done from almost any hand attack, especially more linear ones (punches, reaches, etc.)

Weapons Techniques

Jo techniques

This one was taught at the October 1997 seminar in Flint. Coming from uke's tsuki to the solar plexus and shite's evasion and grasp of the jo, uke is then thrown using the jo for leverage and kuzushi. The 1st principle kansetsu-waza seen in the final frame would be done if uke chooses to attempt to retain the jo, otherwise a followup strike would be done using the jo.

Yawara Bo techniques

The use of the yawara bo or tanbo is integral to the practice of Shobudo. Similar to the jutte, this short stick can be and is used in almost all aspects of the art, including strikes, blocks, throws, chokes, joint locks, and all of the eight principles.
